Today as I was sitting for breakfast, I came across a programme on kairali TV that was about a travelogue on silent valley. Though I have seen clippings, read about the various exotic, endangered species but nothing has provoked this thought. As this person walked through the forests untouched by the cunning hands of man, my heart yearned for such an experience. I also thought about our school and college tours that are confined to the sophisticated amusement parks and hyped up tourist hotspots. I believe it would be much better to have trekking trips instead of these to different forests for which our country is blessed in abundance. Also such tours not only bring true enjoyment and everlasting memories, it also educates us and we are brought back to our “roots”. Also it’s a much-needed break from the modern world in which we are entangled with complexities. Most importantly, as all self help books suggest to return to nature, such trips also ensure spiritual enlightenment. As interdependence is necessary for survival in the forest, such trips help a lot in building up the feeling of ‘us” rather than ‘I’
These trips ensure a mental, physical and spiritual challenge, which I am sure, will kindle the inner fire in us that is diminishing in the monotonous corporate lives. As a person, I ensure that as soon as I return back from my vacation in the Arabian deserts, I will try my best to bring about such a trip to rest in nature’s lap at least for a while…but trying, I will
